Ditkoff – ART (7/8) – 1-Point Perspective, 3D Room Drawing lesson

Teacher: Ditkoff (editkoff@hps.holyoke.ma.us)

Hi 7th and 8th graders!

I really miss doing art with all of you, so I’m excited to do some lessons online. For this project, I am going to teach you how to draw a 3-Dimensional room, using 1-Point Perspective. 1-Point Perspective is a drawing method that shows how things seem to get smaller as they get further away, leading towards a single dot called your “vanishing point.” This drawing technique will help you create spaces that look both 3D and realistic.

  • Pencil
  • Paper
  • Pen
  • Ruler (or any straight edge such as a book)
    • OPTIONAL: Markers/color pencils/paints

Create your “Dream Quarantine” bedroom. What would your room look like if you could design it? What kind of furniture and decorations would you have?

Watch the video and follow along. Start by using pencil so you can erase any mistakes. Work slowly, and do your best work.

Please send me a photo of your work when it’s done at: editkoff@hps.holyoke.ma.us

I can’t wait to see your drawings 🙂
