Ditkoff – Art: Homemade Binoculars Art Project (Grades K – 2)

Teacher: Ditkoff (editkoff@hps.holyoke.ma.us)

Hello Kindergartners, 1st graders and 2nd graders!

I miss you all very much, and I am so excited to do some art with you, even if its over video! Here is step-by-step video art lesson where I will teach you how to make homemade binoculars. For this lesson, you do not need to have your own art materials, because everything used can be substituted for something else, and many materials can be found at home.

Things you will need:

  • 2 empty toilet paper rolls, or 1 paper towel roll cut in half
  • Paint, AND/OR colored pencils, markers, OR food coloring/water
  • Glue or tape
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon, string, or paper cut into thin strips
    • Clothes Pins/Bobby pins
    • Glitter, stickers, anything else to decorate

Note: This material list is not mandatory, if you have other ideas/materials in mind that would work, feel free to use whatever you have.

Watch the video and follow along to create your own binoculars. Remember, yours do not have to look like mine, I want to see your creativity! When you are finished please send me a photo of your work/ of your child’s process.  My email is: editkoff@hps.holyoke.ma.us
