Teacher: Howland (ahowland@hps.holyoke.ma.us)

Assignment:

Happy Friday Everyone!

Today I have an ELA assignment. This assignment is designed for students who come with me to my room for ELA. However, if you feel like you would like some extra ELA practice everyone is welcome to do the assignment and submit it to me.

Our learning goal today is to read the text “Rightly Unfair” and analyze how Janie’s feelings change between the beginning of the story and the end of the story by making inferences and supporting ideas using text evidence. To do this we will be using our close reading strategy of annotation.

DIRECTIONS

  1. Read the story. Underline or write down any words you don’t understand.
  2. Reread the story. Remember reading a text more than once is one of our close reading strategies. Fill in the graphic organizer with your references and key details. Please name your graphic organizer with your name and make sure you have shared it with ahowland@hps.holyoke.ma.us so I can give you feedback
  3. Write a paragraph. Based on the text “Rightly Unfair” , write a paragraph ( 5-7 sentences) that describes how Janie’s feelings changed from the beginning of the story to the end of the story. Use details from the text to support your answer. You can type your answer here.
