Beauregard – Math: Fraction Recipe #2 Butter Cookies

Assignment:

Suppose you wanted to make the recipe below for a larger group of people.  You might need to double, triple, or quadruple the ingredients to make enough for your guests!  Using the given amounts in the recipe below, write equations and solve how much of each ingredient you would need as the recipe is adjusted to feed more and more people. Of course you can make this recipe when you are done and send me pictures to post on our ClassDojo Classroom Page:) !!! Have fun and enjoy 🙂

 

Kid’s Favorite Butter Cookies

Ingredients:

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter (softened)

1 large egg

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

2/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Decorator sugars (if desire)

Instructions for making it if you wish 🙂
Heat oven to 400°F.
Combine sugar, butter and egg in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Add all remaining ingredients except decorator sugar; beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten slightly with bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Sprinkle with decorator sugars. Bake 6-8 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
