Happy Hump Day!
This week we have focused on point of view and have worked on identifying WHO is telling the story. Today, we’re going to stretch our brains and practice identifying how the character or narrator thinks/ feels about an event in the story. Our read aloud this morning is The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt . As you listen, pause the story and ask, “Who is telling the story now?”, “Why is the crayon quitting?”, and “What is the crayon’s point of view?” When you finish with reader’s workshop, spend some time on Istation and Lexia.
Select one crayon, character, from the story. Explain how it feels and why it quit (point of view). Don’t forget to pull evidence from the text.
Example: The red crayon is very ______ with Duncan. He thinks____________ (point of view).
