*All assignments will also be posted on Google Classroom. To use Google Classroom, simply sign-on as if you were signing onto a ChromeBook in a classroom at school.
- Legends of Learning:
-Sign into Legends of Learning as you normally would in the classroom and complete the assignments online. I have enabled home access. You will see assignments related to our current unit of study: -Expressions and Equations.
-Grade 6 access code: PFEFFE1PFEFFE1PFEFFE
-If you need access to Legends of Learning or Google Classroom, please use the link listed above to contact me and I will send your login information ASAP.
- Purple Unit 6 Workbook:
Continue to finish any Practice Problems that were not yet completed.
- Math Concept Review (Expressions and Equations:
-Click on the link below or use Google Classroom to access
-If you don’t have access to a printer, use a separate piece of paper and record the answers. Be sure to label your paper with the worksheet number.
-If you need access to Legends of Learning or Google Classroom, please use the link listed above to contact me and I will send your information ASAP.
-Here is a link to Expression and Equation worksheets. The answer sheets are also attached. There are many different worksheets available. Pick a few and complete them. Use the answer sheets as a last resort. They review work / math concepts that we have completed in class.
-If you have any trouble completing this, here is a link to help you. This is a link to Mr. Morgan’s math website. He is a math teacher that produces helpful videos for each grade. Click the link and then find the grade 6 link. We are currently in Unit 6.
Google Classroom “chat” is available in each grade 5 math Google Classroom. Please feel free to ask me questions about any of the work that is presented here. Also, if you feel like chatting about an “appropriate” topic, feel free to post it there. You can post in the STREAM section of the classroom.
Be on the lookout for some work and a new Google Classroom just for you.
Our current unit is “Density and other properties of matter”, which includes important concepts such as density, mass, and volume as well as other properties of matter such as flexibility, ductility, hardness, thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, and melting point.
Below are my suggestions. Please share your feedback: is it too much, too little, or just right? Is it too hard, too easy, or just right? I will modify the content, send more, reduce the load, etc accordingly to the feedback that I receive from you!
All assignments described below have been posted on Google Classroom. To use Google Classroom, simply sign-on as if you were signing onto a ChromeBook in a classroom at school. I have enabled the chat feature on all science Google Classroom classes. Please use this feature ONLY for science related questions and comments. IMPORTANT, do this first: join our class BEFORE you start with any school work. Our science class code is zhikudo
- STEMscopes: Density and Other Physical Properties
Description: STEMscopes is the district approved science platform. It offers instantly accessible online activities. Students are accustomed to its formatting, but this would be the first time we are using it online, so please make sure you follow the following login instructions carefully:
In order to access STEMscopes, you need to use your complete school email, not only your login. For example: firstname.lastname@example.org, that means you need to add @holyokestudents.org to your login in order to access the content.
I have assigned you the following two activities:
- a) Concept review game
- b) Claim-Evidence-Reasoning
In order to access STEMscopes, you need to use your complete school email, not only your login. For example: email@example.com, that means you need to add @holyokestudents.org to your login in order to access the content. Once you have signed in, you will see the game and the video under the tab “Assignments”. Under the tab “Learning Resources”, you can also access the “Picture Vocabulary” and the “STEMscopedia”.
- Flocabulary: Mass, Volume & Density
Description: What do mass, volume and density have in common? They’re all ways to measure and compare matter. This lesson teaches students the correct scientific tools, formulas and units to use to calculate these three important properties of matter.
- Videos: Crash Course Kids
Description: this is a compilation of 16 videos on “Physical Science: Properties of Matter”. It is a nice review of 5th grade standards needed for this unit. I suggest watching one per day, each video is about 4 minutes and it is better to watch them in order. Remember! You can add subtitles or slow the playback speed by going to the lower right corner of the video screen and click on “cc” (closed caption) and “settings”.
