HEY GUYS! So at the beginning of this week I challenged you to read and annotate a text specifically looking at the theme! That being said I want to assess how well you understood the text and the theme of it! 

 

For today’s challenge I want you to complete the questions below in regards to the text that you close read. 

 

Some questions will be about your close reading process and some will be about the theme. You will be able to find copies of the text below for easier access.

 

 

7th Grade Reading Questions
  1. Using context clues determine the meaning of at least 2 vocab words and explain why you thought that was the definition. 
  1. What is a theme in the passage?
    1. A feeling of independence is difficult to achieve.
    2. Revenge can be satisfying.
    3. Overconfidence can lead to unexpected results. 
    4. Freedom is a personal choice.
  1. Explain why that is the theme using evidence from the text.

 

8th Grade Reading Questions

    1. Loyal friends can be trusted.
