Reminders for class meetings

  • Join the meeting 15 minutes early! This way if you are having a hard time I will be able to help you! You can always walk away and come back when you want the help or story.
  • Mute when you join.
  • Wait to be called on.

Class announcements

  • April break has been shortened. April break will now be on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Staff will be working on Thursday and Friday.
  • Reminder that work is for enrichment purposes only. It is not supposed to be graded, however work may receive feedback. It is meant to reinforce what they have learned when we were in school, not new material.
  • MCAS has been cancelled.
  • When there is a call meeting, please log on 15 minutes before to ensure you can get on. You can always walk away and return to the device to join the meeting when you are ready.

 

Mrs. Therrien’s office hours for a parent conference by appointment 11-12 Monday-Friday (English).

Mrs. Therrien will call English speaking families from 3-5:30 on Mondays

Mrs. Therrien accepts and will respond to messages when not in meetings on school days between the hours of 8AM-3PM. I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Wednesday– Play or make an instrument to play from something around the house (Miércoles de instrumentos musicales. Toca o crea un instrumento musical de algo que encuentres en tu casa.)Example: rice or beads inside an empty bottle makes a cute maraca. (Ejemplo: arroz o cuántas dentro de una botella vacía para hacer una maraca)

30 minutes of teacher-determined Mathematics work (30 minutos de trabajo de matematica asignado por la meastra)

This week we will be designing our own zoo! Complete each day and send me a picture, dojo message, dojo portfolio, or email with your work.(Esta semana estaremos diseñando nuestro zoológico. Completa cada dia y enviame un mensaje en Dojo, Dojo Portafolio o envialo a mi correo electronico.)

 

Monday- A zoo needs animals. Pick four small animals. You will be making a place for them to live. They all need to have an area between 16 square feet but no larger than 36 square feet. Draw or tell me the dimensions (sides) or your rectangles for each animal. Hint: multiplication. (Lunes – Un zoológico necesita animales. Elige cuatro animales pequeños . Harás un lugar para que vivan. Todos necesitan tener un área entre 16 pies cuadrados pero no más grande que 36 pies cuadrados. Dibuja o dime las dimensiones (lados) o tus rectángulos para cada animal. Pista: multiplicación.)

Tuesday– Now let’s find the area for two  medium sized animals. They need more space. They need an area of 60 or more. Draw or tell me the dimensions (sides) or your rectangles for each animal. Hint: think about how multiplication is the same as repeated addition. How many times you add the same number is how many rows. The number you keep adding is how many columns. (Ahora busquemos el área para dos  animales de tamaño mediano . Necesitan más espacio. Necesitan un área de 60 o más. Dibuja o dime las dimensiones (lados) o tus rectángulos para cada animal. Sugerencia: piense cómo la multiplicación es lo mismo que la suma repetida. La cantidad de veces que agrega el mismo número es la cantidad de filas. El número que sigue sumando es cuántas columnas).

Wednesday– Now let’s feed them! Each small animal gets two scoops of food. Each medium sized animal gets three scoops of food. How many scoops do you need to fill the whole zoo each day? For the week. Hint: If you can’t solve with numbers or number sentences, draw it out to help you. There are seven days in a week. (Ahora vamos a darles de comer! Cada animal pequeño recibe dos cucharadas de comida. Cada animal de tamaño mediano recibe tres cucharadas de comida. ¿Cuántas cucharadas necesitas para llenar todo el zoológico cada día? 30 minutes students self-directed project-based learning Write a narrative. A narrative is when you are in the story.

How to organize yourself:

Characters: pick three or four, but not any more than that. It will confuse the reader.

Setting: keep the story in one or two places

Plot: what is going to happen. There needs to be a beginning, middle, and end

Hints: be sure to include how you felt, what you thought, what you and the other characters said and did
